This might seem strange but the Golden Ratio, also known as the divine proportion, which is designated by the Greek letter Φ (phi) is one of the most helpful things when setting up your web design.

How to use this “The Golden Ratio” well its very simple indeed. Lets say that the main width of your website is going to be 900px wide and to find out this golden ratio all you have to do is divide 900px by 1.62 and hay presto you have 555px (555.55px) for you main content which also mean your side bar will be 345px..!
